...Hasta: B@stards!
So we have a set of games that have been shoehorned in to give the Lions a proper tour. Fair enough, in my view. The Lions tour has many threats and it's good to see professional rugby making the effort to do best for it. As far as the timing of it, I reckon that's reasonable enough too, the internationals are all around, it's early in the season so players shouldn't be too knackered and it's before an EDF game which, let's be honest, would probably have been used to rest them anyway.
So let's have a look at the match-ups.
B@stards vs Relegated
Glaws are a bit low on confidence at the moment, not helped by Dean Ryan publicly criticising his players. They should still win this, but I'm not convinced how fluidly they will. Newcastle are a poor side, but should be buoyed by their win over Bristol and still have Jonny to kick their goals. I reckon this'll be a close one. Prediction: Gloucester 4, Newcastle 1.
Brizzle vs Watford
Bris have had a shocking start to the season. Sarries have won their last couple and are building in confidence. Bris should look to the ECC to rebuild some confidence, but they really just need a result from somewhere, anywhere. I can't see it happening here. Prediction: Bristol 0, Sarries 4
Meaaaaaaaat vs Sinners
Well Tigers are a bit narked after losing at home to Wasps. I fear Saints, who are decent, but not great, will suffer their wrath. Saints should be pleased with their first five matches though. Prediction: Tigers 5, Saints 0
Drummers vs Tadpoles
Irish are a creative, attacking team, Sale haven't conceded a try in four games. I can't see that defensive run continuing for ever, but they're looking pretty unstoppable at the moment. The evening kick-off should help Sale who are more used to it than Irish. Prediction: Irish 0, Sale 4.
Wycombe Uncontesteds vs Brilliance
Danny '3rd Time Lucky' Cipriani will be returning in some form for Wasps, who should be massively buoyed by their come-from-behind win at Tiggers. Wasps are becoming a bit of a bogey team for Bath, who probably won't be helped by the evening kick-off either. Bath have been playing some good stuff recently, but I fear this one just won't come through for them. Also, I've a 100% record of inaccuracy when it comes to predictions for Wasps and I'm hoping to lend a helping hand here. Prediction: Wasps 4, Bath 1.
Boilers vs Multicoloureds
This is a hard one to call. Wuss are a decent side and the scoreline at Bath didn't do them justice. Quins have been excellent so far this season, but went to sleep in the second half on Saturday and somehow threw away a win at home to Irish. On balance... home win. Just. Prediction: Worcester 4, Quins 1.
