The League has finished.

James Brown
By Lindsay Clayton May 17 2008

So now for the European Challenge Cup Final. The Warriors and the fans are in a state of great anticipation as we all hope that the Warriors can pull off a famous win and beat Bath Rugby at Kingsholm on the 25th May. There has been much to organise, such as the sale and delivery of tickets, travel arrangements (there are special trains and loads of coaches going) and post match party!

Then there is deciding what to wear... Well it didn’t take that long, we aim to turn The Shed Blue and Gold!!

In the mean time we have to say goodbye to 16 players as well which is very sad that so many are leaving and I would like to say goodbye and a huge thank you to the following players Lee Best (Full Back), James Brown (Fly-Half), Thinus Delport (Full Back), Shane Drahm (Fly-Half), Greg Evans (Centre), Craig Everett (Back Row), Dom Feaunati (Centre), Ben Gotting (Hooker), Aisea Havili (Wing), Drew Hickey (Back Row), Phil Murphy (Lock), Uche Oduoza (Wing), Gavin Quinnell (Back Row), Gary Truman (Centre), Mark Tucker (Centre) and Tony Windo (prop). Thanks guys, best wishes and good luck in all you do in the future.

So far we have signed 2 replacements Chris Latham and Hal Luscombe, so the squad is going to be a tad smaller next season. Looks like quality in favour of quantity. I would still like to see a couple more signings over the summer as we have lost much of our cover at fly-half and centre.

This is the time of year that I dislike the most, the season is over (bar one match) and there is the inevitable and interminable speculation as to who we are going to sign. It just seems so long to September when we can jump back on the Warriors roller coaster again! It seems a shame to wish the summer over before it has begun, but roll on the Autumn and Premiership rugby!

None of the Warriors were picked for any of the national squads this summer, nor the A teams either. It remains to be seen if some of the younger guys get chosen to go the U20 World cup. There have been several Warriors who have worn the white of England in the U20’s this season, Miles Benjamin, Matt Cox, Jonny Arr, Graham Kitchener and Greg King, it remains to be seen how many of them make the squad. So that will keep me topped up with Warrior action over the summer hopefully.

Going to make sure that my shirt is washed ready for the 25th and then wish away the working week until the Final... It’s going to be a long 7 days and an even longer summer.
