"The six nations don't matter" is what Gyppo said
"I don't care if we lose every game"
and as for summer games against Oz
he said pretty much just the same.
"The World Cup is our aim" is what Jenkins did claim
"that's when you will see us perform"
well Jenks in the game against Canada's men,
we were bad which I'm sad, is the norm.
Things started quite even, tho we hoped for more,
three kicks from Hook gave us the lead,
but the Cannucks hit back thru the strength of their pack
and a try we were forced to conceed.
We surrendered possession thru kicks and knock-ons
as these days we are wont to do.
"We can't win the game if we don't have the ball.
Honestly boys that is true!"
Our attacks lacked direction until off his wing,
winkie came looking for ball,
but things went awry when they took Hookie's pass,
and then added seven points to their haul.
at half-time the scoreboard showed that they led,
I thought "where's this performance then mate?"
"We look just as bad as we have done all year"
I was starting to get most irrate.
"Please bring on Carthorse move Hook out to twelve,
it'll give him more time on the ball!"
but try as I might, to get this across,
my telly replied not at all.
Early on in the second they went over again,
and at last Gyppo turned to his bench,
was there still the time to turn things around
or would we go the way of the French?
The effect it was instant as over the line
Carthorse crashed, but was held up in the maul.
The scrum gave a pen. and Parker ran in
it was Carthorse who passed him the ball.
Then the Cannucks screwed up, close to their line,
and A.W.Jones took his chance,
then Winkie went in for 2 of his own
without needing his speed or to dance.
It came down to Charvis to close our account.
to win with the bonus point too.
but I think we were flattered by the final score
and we've a great deal of work left to do.
