Sigley to return to Moseley

After two years as something of a rugby itinerant Terry Sigley has agreed to return to Moseley and has vowed to ‘put down roots’ with the National One outfit. The 29-year-old tighthead has signed up for his third stint with the Birmingham side and hopes to end his career at the club that gave him his break in senior rugby. He will form part of an experienced scrummaging unit
that has already secured the services of Plymouth Albion’s George Davis and was yesterday bolstered by the news hookers Adam Caves and Dan Oselton and prop Ben Buxton had re-signed for next season.

With Players’ Player of the year Nathan Williams at loosehead Moseley will now be able to field the front row that powered them to some of their best results last term with Sigley’s unique skill-set central to the side’s development.

Having come through the ranks at Moseley, he was tempted away to Pertemps Bees. He was at Sharmans Cross Road for a couple of seasons until he was picked up in 2004 by Gloucester. However, things unravelled at Kingsholm and after playing for Bees again in 2006-07 he was released by Dean Ryan from where he hooked up during the World Cup with Northampton Saints.
After a few weeks he joined Moseley and played sufficiently well for Sale to come calling. Sigley seemed set for a long-term deal with the Sharks until they signed Mathew Tait and felt the effects of the salary cap.

Despite being offered a deal for next year, the financial goalposts had moved and Sigley felt unable to accept new terms.
“I went up there on the basis I had already agreed a contract which is a little bit annoying but rugby is like that. Now I am at Moseley I would like to put some roots down and settle in the area. I have moved around a lot for the last few years.
“I didn’t get a pre-season last year and although there were a couple of other things on the table I wanted to get it sorted quickly so that I can get ready for the season ahead.”

Sigley’s recruitment could mean Billesley Common has seen the last of England Saxons’ prop Jack Forster who appeared in 18 games as a dual registered player last year.
