Connacht prepare for Business end of Season

Come On Connacht
By LDTT January 16 2008
On a breezy day in January, just north of Madrid, Connacht finally picked up 5 points away from home in Europe. Nine tries. Not a bad return for an afternoon's work. And after a bit of a glum start to this european campaign, Connacht have put their progress in their own hands (with a little help from Johnny Wilkinson and his chums).

But, let's take nothing away from the Western awakening. Connacht have long put it up to the wealthier opposition, but now we are finally getting the results on the scoreboard to match the effort put in.

All supporters will be hoping we finish above either Ulster or the Ospreys (or both) but it can't hurt to progress in Europe. A win of any sort against French side Brive will put Connacht through to the last 8 of the competition. More than likely that will mean a trip over to England in April, still it'll be good to continue momentum now and take that into the Magners league fixtures across the 6Nations period.

With the new Liam Bibo getting his first points for the side, Danny Riordan & McPhillips getting their scores on the board, half backs Dunne and O'Loughlin playing so amazing rugby, and our pack still bullying almost every team they come up against... the westerners have really seen worse days.
