Wigan Warriors 16 Leeds Rhinos 52

Friday 22nd August 2008, JJB Stadium, Wigan

The Leeds Rhinos have hit the form they were displaying in the first quarter of the season, as they scored a record 52 points to the Warriors 16 at the JJB Stadium. It was Wigan’s biggest ever home defeat in the Super League era.

The Champions scored nine tries in total, keeping hopes of the league leaders sheild alive.

There were some superb performances by Matt Diskin, Brent Webb, Jamie Peacock and Gareth Ellis especially (as well as others), giving Leeds those precious two points, and running in form ahead of our play off campaign, that will hopefully end up at the Grand Final.

Don’t forget to check back on the site on Saturday to read all the action from the match in our detailed match report. Also, remember, our live scores page will be available on the site throughout this bank holiday weekend, so you can keep up to date with all the latest Super League action.

There has also been more rumors circulating about a big signing which is expected to be announced next week at the Headingley Carnegie. Frank Pritchard is apparently the most likely to join Leeds for the start of the 2009 season, but it is by no means certain, as his agent is still denying any links with the Super League. If there is an update, we will confirm it next week.
