Kingsholm crowd can be our extra player, says Ryan
By Cherry Picker May 14 2008
Gloucester coach Dean Ryan says the Kingsholm crowd can be his team’s 16th player as they go into their play-off semi-final against Leicster at the weekend. Ryan says the noise made by the fans, especially in the Shed, made all the difference in the tense win over Bath last weekend and he has called on the crowd to get behind the team again for Sunday’s big game.
He believes the support Glaws have been getting this season is a response to the progress being made by his squad and the work ethic he has distilled into the team.
Ryan told the Citizen: "The crowd is crucial. The number we get is fantastic, the noise is great.

“They don't just come and shout for a side because they are wearing red and white - they shout for you because you are prepared to work really hard."
Glaws fans – and the players – are looking fo revenge over the Tigers after last year’s 44-16 defeat in the play-of final at Twickenham, but if they do win on Sunday it will mean they have beaten the three other top four teams in the last three weeks.
Glaws centres Mike Tindall and Anthony Allen have slight injury worries, but both are expected to be fit.
Narraway try v Ulster

Tindall  is one of two Glaws players in the England squad for the summer trip to New Zealand. The other is Luke Narraway (above), but there are no places for Iain Balshaw or Lesley Vainikolo. Olly Barkley, who joins the club in the summer, is included.
Narraway told the Citizen: "I thought I had an outside chance of being included, so when Dean Ryan pulled me aside and said congratulations, I was delighted. To be honest, I would have been happy with a place on the Saxons tour."
In that squad, for the trip to the USA and Canada for the Churchill Cup, is prop Jack Forster, along with Anthony Allen and Ryan Lamb, while more experienced Alex Brown and Andy Titterrell are also named.
There’s no place in either squad for Nick Wood, while James Simpson-Daniel is expected to have an operation on his shoulder injury during the summer.
The two Gareths, Delve and Cooper, are in the Wales squad for their summer tour to South Afica.
Meanwhile, Ryan says flanker Akapusi Qera have proved himself a world-class player. “I've said that all year,” he said .” When we brought him in from Birmingham, as soon as we started working with him we knew he could be.
“His understanding and ability to fit into structures contradicted the stereotype of a Fijian player. I think that's crucial. He's adapted massively to top level rugby."

Let's hope the hangover is a result of celebrating, and not drowning your sorrows.
By the way, what happened with your moral dilemma last weekend?

It turned out to be pretty much the ideal day but unfortunately she cant make Sunday so I have got my mate a ticket and he is coming. Cant say a Sunday afternoon kick off time is ideal for many people but at least its not that flamin stupid half eleven one coz I really despise that kick off time for some reason.
