JSD - on target
He says he is ahead of schedule on the road to recovery after the operation on his troublesome shoulder injury and fully expects to be fit for the big game against the Tigers at Kingsholm on September 6.
With forwards Akapusi Qera (right)and Gareth Delve both out long-term after knee surgery, Sinbad's progress is good news for the team and the fans alike.
He has a pre-season date with Martin Johnson's England squad, and he told the Citizen: "If it had been the middle of the season we would be setting a definite date but because it's the off-season we don't have to force things, which has been great, and I'm ahead of schedule.
"I was told it would be three months after the operation which was in May, so I hope to be back by the beginning of the season - maybe even for the pre-season games."
Meanwhile, the club's pre-season training programme continues under the guidance of Mike Anthony, who leaves the club next month to take up a job with a posh title for New Zealand. Basically, it means he'll be in charge of fitness, but these days such jobs have to have long, complicated names.
His Glaws replacement as "Head of Strength and Conditioning" will be Mark Bitcon, the "Head of Elite Strength and Conditioning" for Scotland. He has previously worked for London Wasps and Glasgow Warriors.
Fitness training nowadays appears to be somewhat different to doing circuits and the ever-popular "shaggers" some of us may remember, though not with a lot of affection.
