Mike Tindall breaks
Willie walker put in another man-of-the-match performance with 16 of his team’s points and he admitted it was an important result for the team.
So did coach Dean Ryan, who told the BBC: "I am happy with that win. We lost in the last minute last year and it was almost set up for a repeat.
"When you play Wasps, you want the result. Performances are there week in and week out but if you have a ding-dong against Wasps, you are happy to come out top.
Alasdair Dickinson breaks free against Wasps
"This gives us a chance to push some resources at this competition in the later games. We will look at this and think we let them back into the match but I'm pleased with the win."
Both coaches followed the standard EDF practice by fielding a mixture team, including up-and-coming young players alongside tried and tested campaigners.
The result might not have been spectacular, but for Glaws it was a case of “job done” in front of a disappointing crowd of only 7,864. Is the credit crunch biting at in the Kingsholm stands and terraces?
As well as Walker, Lesley Vainikolo also did well, scoring a try after Ryan Lamb’s kick into the corner – though why he chose to kick when Glaws had a clear try-scoring overlap is a mystery – and making Walker’s touchdown with a good run and neat pass.
But there was a question mark against some Gloucester defending and they’ll need to improve on that against Biarritz next weekend.
