Nick Wood - doubt
Props Nick Wood and Carlos Nieto (right) are both doubtful for the game, and that means Ryan could be forced to play at least one forward out of position in the front row against the French side.
Ryan hopes one of the pair will be fit, but he says having both of them available is doubtful and Alasdair Dickinson is an obvious deputy in the front row.
Newcomer Dave Young could also be in line for his Glaws debut.
Ryan told the Citizen: "We are giving them as much time as possible. I think it's unlikely we'll get both. We hope we get one.
"Alasdair Dickinson has gone well over the last couple of weeks, so we can see where we go from there."
Luke Narraway is expected to return at No.8, while in the backs, Anthony Allen and Matt Watkins are both ruled out, and with Olly Barkley expected to operate in the centre alongside Mike Tindall, there's a battle for the fly-half shirt between Ryan Lamb and Willie Walker.
On recent form, Walker should get the nod.
Injuries have hit Glaws hard already this season, and with the international matches on the way, Ryan's choices are hardly going to get any easier as the season goes on.
There is some light at the end of the tunnel, though, with All Blacks prop Greg Somerville expected at Kingsholm between now and Christmas. The exact timing will depend on whether he is picked for New Zealand's visit to the Northern Hemisphere.
