Quins Ladies halted by Hove (0-24)
By Tanya W October 3 2007
Sunday 23rd September saw the Harlequin Ladies play their first league match of the season. They faced long-term league adversaries Hove, at home in Roehampton Vale. From the kick-off Quins Ladies took control of the game, offloading out of the tackles to retain the ball.

The Ladies were continually testing the Hove defensive line, but despite a number of line breaks, handling errors just before the try line prevented them from scoring. The Hove defence remained strong and were quick to the loose ball at the breakdown, which led to their first score, just before the half-time whistle.

Half-time score: Harlequin Ladies 0 - Hove 5

The visitors rallied during the half-time break, with the centre partnership producing determined runs to break through the Quins defensive line, and handling and tactical skills repeatedly creating the overlap. despite some fierce tackling from the Quins, Hove were able to run in a further three tries in the second half.

Full-time score: Quins 0 - Hove 24.

Next week the ladies play a friendly fixture against Hampstead - home at Roehampton Vale, kick off 2.30pm
