Just to say that quite a few people are thinking of using it as a reason to dress up so will be wearing frocks and DJs

Why don't you all wear Quins Shirts & leave the dinner jackets to the posh doo in Park Lane? I thought that this Quinssa evening was to be a more relaxed event with smart casual dress for those who can't afford the other one. Isn't that what people have complained about for all this time?

I think people have complained about cost of other do not what you wear, besides *posh* dressy up togs is still smart I for one am gonna dress up, don't get much chance to so am making most of it, guess it is down to individual how they dress I sure am not wearing my Quins shirt wear that all time and besides its shorter than a minis skirt so erm no jeans posh frock for me just to prove to myself I do actually have legs.

QA: It's more the fact that a lot of people can't afford the do in Park Lane but fancy having a dinner - how much you dress up is up to you. All it says is "Dress code is smart (no jeans/shorts/trainers)"

I hope to see you there - I might be the one in the red taffeta dress (Sm14)

It's the cost of the PAD that's the problem, not the dress code. It's nice to dress up and make a bit of an effort. It makes the whole thing more of an occasion.

Surely everyone has some smarter clothes? Even people who don't have to dress up regularly have something (not necessarily DJ/long ball dress) in the wardrobe for more formal occasions.

We are Harlequins after all!

DJ isn't expensive, you can buy an ex-hire job for about £50! That isn't the problem with the Park Lane do, the problem is the cost of the dinner itself.

I do think that its nice to make an effort, if you don't have Black tie, perhaps a suit might be nice.

Just to reiterate the dress code for this event - the only proviso is no jeans, trainers or shorts.

If people want to, and can, dress up then that is fine. (Sm13)

If others don't want to then that is equally fine - they should not feel obliged/pressured to do so.(Sm13)

No problem folks. I was just raising the issue & looking back at my post now, it did'nt read too well. I'll be shirt, tie, decent trousers. Might even buy a Quins tie on saturday actually.

i hate that upper class snobbery of the "no jeans " rule....i just bought a pair of Diesel Jeans at £125,does that make me scruffy or a yob? no it doesnt...The stoop is hardly a top of the bill location. It is a rugby clubhouse at the end of the day.More affordable do should stand for what it says and allow people to turn up in whatever they want to .

I haven't had a request for your MAD ticket yet snotterbox/bish/grumpystiltsquin . . . are you coming to the Quinssa stand before the match on Saturday to buy it? (Sm13)

Jeans are not scruffy nor yobbish but they are also not, along with shorts and trainers, appropriate for a 3 course sit down meal in most people's books (Sm14)

£125 for a fashion label 2" x 3" seems rather dear, tescos's do jeans for £5 - BOGOF too.

Quite!
Mr rumplestiltsquin if you purchased a pair of jeans at £125 I'd say that makes you a fool. I don't want to comment on whether or not you are an oik as I don't know you. However I am wary of buying a pair of Levi's at £50 because I can get a pair of equally comfortable and hardwearing jeans at M&S for £30. i.e. 4 pairs for your 1 (Sm108)

Although I am dressing up whatever that means for the MAD dinner my worry is how the heck I am getting home, heh being a supporter from a little further afield and not being a driver kinda my main concern regarding the event, not what I or anyone eles is going to wear.

It's nice to dress up for an occasion...the level of dressing up is up to the individual, but if there is a good reason to get the Dinner Jacket out, then that's fine with me! smiling smiley

Nice to see bish can even find something to complain about in regard to the MAD...business as usual! "Upper class snobbery of the no jeans rule" indeed...idiot.
